Vestium: a fashion-tech startup, up to a working prototype

3D scanning / fashion tech · Co-Founder & COO · Vestium Inc.

The idea

A bridge between real and digital fashion.

Scan clothing and avatars in 3D with a smartphone: a digital wardrobe where users try outfits on their own avatar, find inspiration and sell items with one click.

The market backed the idea

The prototype · two iterations

Iteration 01

LiDAR point cloud → mesh

Mesh generated and cleaned up. Results okay but not good enough.

Iteration 02

Depth sensor + RGB camera

Solid meshes with detail and high-quality textures — at studio level, just with a smartphone.

In parallel: professional branding, finished app UI/UX, conversations with established fashion brands and the search for funding.

Prototype & pitch

Result

The technology was proven. The funding was not.

In 2023 we shut the project down. What it really came down to: we wanted the app to do everything from day one — scan, avatar, marketplace, social media, all at once. We did not prioritize.

What I take away

The core first, the rest later. Start small, collect feedback, focus. This lesson is baked into every prioritization decision I make as a project and product manager today.
